Though Sunburn in Cyprus has been featured on the weekly audio podcast numerous times over the past 5 years, this is the band’s debut on Chillcast Video. Today’s video is for the Apres Beach Mix of “In The Sunshine,” from the extended single of the same name. The Sharif D. Remix was included in my Top 20 Podsafe Tracks of 2008, and the Big Wheel Remix is featured on my brand new compilation, 5 Years of Chillin’, in celebration of the show’s 5th anniversary. As promised last show, I am taking the week off from producing Chillcast, but I couldn’t leave you hanging this week! The following show was originally produced and released for New Year’s Eve 2007. I’m guessing many new listeners haven’t heard it yet, and old school subscribers haven’t heard it in awhile. I just checked it out and think it sounds pretty sweet! So please enjoy this internationally diverse, podsafe, 90+ minute DJ mix of upbeat house, downtempo, electropop and lounge tracks. As a bonus, I’ve included FREE legal downloads of every song — Happy New Year!

This week, let’s all just chillout with this one hour set of pure relaxing chillout music. I think I’ve got the perfect balance of vocal tracks and instrumentals, with hints of worldbeat, funk, and house. This mellow mix flows dreamily along, gently gaining momentum towards the last 3rd of the show. Lots of brand new releases are featured and several of them are even legal free downloads. Enjoy the chill, my friends!
Last week I gave away a pair of tickets to a great event going on Nov 24th in San Fran called Le Chill Du Nord. The contest come up suddenly as I was recording the voice-overs, so this week I’m featuring music by the bands involved in the event. I’ve also got a brand new remix of my band, Lovespirals, by a former Chillcast Artist of the Week. The show is filled out by some great new podsafe and special permissions tracks, some by new bands to the show and others by some old favorites.

I had to make this week’s episode all in one afternoon, but I think I really pulled it off! Luckily for me I received a number of tasty tracks in my inbox, and found quite a few other gems via Music Alley, IODA, and RCRD_LBL. Get ready for a sweet mix of vocal and instrumental downtempo, deep house, world beat and electropop songs in the classic Chillcast style. Laaaiiid baaaccck…. Lots of new artists to the show this week!
Ooh wee do I have a tasty show lined up for you this week… Lots of brand new music popped up in my inbox this week and I can hardly wait to share it all with you. Look forward to a 4 song set of German Lounge Chillout, flanked by lovely pop electronica – including a sneak peek at Moby’s upcoming new album! Don’t forget to grab the free Moby mp3… BTW, this show was recorded Wednesday, so now tonight is the Lakers’ 3rd game in the 2nd round – GO LAKERS!
I had a lotta fun listening back to all the great podsafe songs that were released last year. So many talented artists made their music available via the Podsafe Music Network and IODA Promonet, which is a beautiful thing… Of course, I’m lucky enough to have many more songs and albums sent to me for what we call “special permissions,” but my tradition is to celebrate the music that was made legal for any and all podcasters to use in their shows. At a time when bloggers are proclaiming podcasting as a dead medium, I think it is especially important for us to appreciate the increasing growth of high quality podsafe music and to support the artists who support the art form of podcasting. Being both an indie artist and podcaster, I can see and experience that wonderful symbiotic relationship from a unique perspecitve, and let me say that I do not think podcasting is dead by a longshot. But hey — its 2009, let’s get this party started!
I put this podcast together last week while recovering from a flu that postponed my camping trip. Gotta say, this chillicious mix of tracks helped my spirits… Just so you know, I’m actually posting this show after having come back from my camping trip and I had a fantastic time so it’s all good. Thanks again for nominating me for a Podcast Award for Best Podsafe Music Podcast! If you have a moment, I would really appreciate your vote to win the Podcast Award. Oh, almost forgot – I’ve also got the winners of the Mr. Meeble contest this week!
It seems I caught iPhone 3G fever Friday, and thus the show was delayed until my old Sunday release date. But I promise the show is well worth the wait as I have a killer lineup AND a killer contest!!! Plus I’ve got several special permissions tracks from outstanding new releases that you won’t want to miss. Now if only someone could build me a Chillcast App for the 3G…
