Took a little break and went back to Doheny to watch Ryan surf for a bit. I recorded a some stuff with my still digital camera and thought I’d share not only that video, but a collection of little surf videos I’ve captured over the past year or two. I’ve always liked how the camera videos look like old 8mm film. This episode features “Sandcastles” by my band with Ryan, Lovespirals.

Ryan just forwarded me this video of Amber Mac interviewing Julien Smith about Homeless Nation. Boy, is he jealous of Jules! Ryan actually asked Julien if he’d met Amber when they met at PME last year. Hee hee hee. Good interview, too. Mr. Smith is not only the real thing, but a true star. 🙂

A Very Merry Unbirthday To Me!

Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday wishes yesterday, including fellow ShowGirls, Cali and Karla. Ryan took me to Disneyland for the second consecutive year — as much to get his Dole Whip fix as to show me a good time, I suspect. Ha! Awesome morning at Bolsa

Took some time off from building the site to enjoy the perfect weather watching the local surfers down at Bolsa State Park Beach. Man! Nothing quite like a great morning outdoors to recharge your batteries. Saw my neighbor pal, Brian Anderson, ripping up small waves when I got there. He is really fun to watch; mad style and makes it look so easy. I just found two YouTube videos of “Loaf” which is cool, because he doesn’t have much of a web presence. Too busy surfing, I guess! Didn’t get stellar shots, but put up some pretty pix on Flickr.

On my Shuffle I was listening to Ghost in the Machine, by The Police, which I hadn’t heard in fricken years. I just picked up the CD through lala.com. Man! It blew me away when I was a kid and I think it still holds up today. People think “80’s music” is all fluffy goofy new wave, but this shit is amazing. Their use of reverb alone is great. But the lyrical content – holy crap – it’s even more true now — “Rehumanize Yourself,” “One World”, and “Too Much Information” – come on!

So… great morning/afternoon. Back to work, I guess!

Let’s see, I gab excitedly about the creation of anjibee.com, my recent conversation with Julien Smith, getting tea from Tom, annoying Ryan Lum with incessant blabbering about Jules and John Mayer and um, stuff. Just watch it already! (OMG, as I was typing this, I got a notification that JM updated his blog! HA!)
