The final 2010 episode of Chillcast Video features a little holiday surprise I put together for you!  Three days into editing together footage for this music video I almost gave up, but I’m glad I pushed through and got it completed.  Thanks to my Lovespirals partner, Ryan Lum, for his production genius on the tune and filming assistance on the video. I hope you enjoy my new single and video called “Happy Holidays.” You can download this video for FREE from the Lovespirals Vimeo Account. Anji Bee Releases Holiday Single

“Happy Holidays” is the first all-original holiday song released by vocalist/lyricist, Anji Bee, who’s perhaps best-known as the hostess/producer of weekly electronica music show, The Chillcast. Co-written with Ryan Lum (of Lovespirals and Love Spirals Downwards), Bee has crafted a deceptively bittersweet pop nugget filled with heartugging disco-infused violins, funky bass and wah guitar, and a relaxed house beat with a hint of cool wintry nights wafting through. Bee’s warm, enveloping vocals pleasantly recall Tracey Thorn (of Everything But The Girl) and Karen Carpenter with their laid back yet passionate delivery and personal holiday message.

Sometimes in the midst of the holiday hub bub of parties and pretty blinking lights one finds themselves reminiscing of the past and wanting to reconnect to a long lost loved one… just to say “Happy Holidays!”

So I know what all my American listeners have planned for this week; you’re all gonna be chillaxing, kicking back, eating food, having some drinks, hanging out with friends and family, and just generally relaxing. For me, music is always a big part of relaxing and hanging out with folks. So I figured I’d put together a chill, groovy set without any talking between tracks that you can enjoy this week. And for all my international listeners, heck, you can just consider this some bonus downtime! This is a sweet, soulful mix of instrumentals and vocal pieces. Enjoy!

I’m excited to announce the world premier of a brand new video for “Believe” by my band, Lovespirals. I created this video with behind-the-scenes footage taken during writing, recording and production sessions for our album, Future Past. I also included some non-studio footage of Ryan and I filmed during that same time period. We like to think it gives you a better feel for our musical inspirations. “Believe” is our favorite song from the album, so this was a special project to work on. I hope you dig it! Catalina Island Camping

Just got home from a lovely and rejuvenating camping trip on Catalina Island with Ryan. I already miss the gorgeous weather and idyllic conditions over at Little Harbor. We are currently having record high weather in Los Angeles, well in excess of 100 degrees all across the county, including the beaches! If only I were still back in Little Harbor, chillin’ with a sea breeze… Thought you might like to check out some of my photos from my Catalina camping trip over on Facebook. Some of these pix are also on my Anji Bee Flickr account, which you can also see directly on my website in the sidebar.

Some highlights from the trip were unexpectedly perfect weather — since the meteorologists predicted fog and cool temps, being the only campers at the beach front spots for 2 nights, spotting buffalo in camp for the first time, making vegan s’mores around the camp fire all 3 nights, and having AMAZING sunsets with unobstructed views all 3 nights including an awe-inspiring simultaneous sunset and moonrise on the Autumn Equinox. I’m sure that Ryan and I will talk a little bit about our experiences on a Chillin’ with Lovespirals band podcast sometime in the near future.

Somehow I managed to say “fantastic” no less than 3 times in the intro of today’s show and I decided that wasn’t half-bad as the subtitle. I’m going with an ever-so-slightly more ambient mix of tunes, with dashes of dream pop, and plenty of downtempo and chillout vibes.
