So I know what all my American listeners have planned for this week; you’re all gonna be chillaxing, kicking back, eating food, having some drinks, hanging out with friends and family, and just generally relaxing. A ton of new music just flooded in from bands, labels, and music bloggers. Honestly, it was hard to contain myself to an hour long set. Especially after that extended Halloween DJ Mix I did last week! But I managed to distill it all into a streamlined moody mix that’s just perfect for the warm windy nights we’re having in So Cal. As I was casting around for show subtitles this week, I tried to mentally sum up the musical theme; the music is partly mechanistic but also quite soulful in spots, and then it hit me: the Filterwolf song title was perfection! In addition to describing the music mix, it has the added bonus of being an allusion to Sasha Vujacic, who is slated to return to play with the Lakers for their first game of the Western Conference Finals this weekend. GO MACHINE! GO LAKERS! OK, Vujachick fangirlism aside, this is an interesting episode filled with a kind of cosmic, other-worldly beauty.
