A new digital release called Connected (Single) is now available. This collaborative song from Anji Bee features simple mantra a of a lyric that was inspired by the fledgling podcasting community back in 2008. The song idea resurfaced in 2010 for the Creative Commons community, and now in 2020, it’s up on Bandcamp for the first time as a message for the whole world.
We are connected.
You can read more about the 3 versions of “Connected” (acapella, Ghost4Hire mix and Fave Nitemare mix) on the individual song pages of the Anji Bee Bandcamp account. This is a Bandcamp EXCLUSIVE.
Youngblood Records recently released a t-shirt featuring a doodle I drew for my late 80’s straight edge hardcore fanzine, Positive Influence. This was taken from issue #4, released February 1988. The first run of this “Scene News” design was on a goldenrod tee to match the color of this issue’s cover, but this new run in pink is super cute. If you want a piece of Anji Bee OR straight x edge history, pickup this limited edition tee while you still can! Available at shop.youngblood-records.com
Tickled that @youngbloodrecords wanted to collab with me for their vintage hardcore found art t-shirt collection! This is one of several pen and ink drawings I made to headline the Scene News section of Positive Influence zine. This particular doodle appeared on the inside cover of issue no 4 and the original piece of art reads, “Scene News For Feb.”
We are very siked to have the opportunity to collect and release an old favorite. Every logo, ad, illustration, photo, and page of this zine is a blueprint. Positive Influence was done by Anji Lum from Oct 1988 until sometime during the beginning of 1990 in San Pedro, CA – 100% pure SoCal teenage hardcore exuberance. Anthology coming soon! 🐿
The Lovespirals Mixcloud account now features episode 31 of Behind The Lyric. Anji Bee discussed both the lyrical back story behind her Lovespirals‘ song “This Truth”. She also talked about how the chart-topping Damien.S VS Lovespirals remix single came to be released by Loverush Digital in 2010. Listen in the player below!
Took some time out this weekend to peruse SoundCloud and put together a new mix of chilled electronic tunes to help you get your week started off on the right foot. Nothing puts me in a better mood than discovering new music and this set has some of my faves plus some new artists that are new to the show, as well, including Ian Ewing, Chromonicci, Vesky, Sentimental Scenery, Young Citrus, Flume, 92elm, Mark Johns, Manila Killa, Active Child, Ekali, Baekhyung of EXO & Cashmere Cat. It’s definitely a classic Chillcast! If you dig the vibes, PLEASE leave me a COMMENT on Mixcloud or Soundcloud — and be sure to share the mix on your socials to help spread the word!
Surprise! It’s a return to form for this sneak attack episode. Hopefully you’ll forgive me for forgetting ’bout ya since that 4th of July K-Pop show? I dug up some real gems on SoundCloud this weekend n enjoyed some “me time” gettin into my feels for this emotive set with some of my all time faves. You can thank sHIFT Radio for inspiring me to take the time for Chillcast by inviting me to do a guest set. Hey, I’m posting my playlists to Soundcloud, too, if you wanna follow there: soundcloud.com/anjibee
A cool remix of my classic song “Goodbye” has been released on the new ‘Start Again… Remix Album‘ by The Morphism. This mix by Keurich is definitely tougher sounding than the original 2000 recording created by Moondawg and I for our Dreamzone 51 project, or the better known version created with Rom Di Prisco for Bitstream Dream in 2001. Even though I had rerecorded my vocals for Bitstream Dream, The Morphism version utilized even newer recordings — with an added chorus refrain, bridge, and outro –which is what’s sampled for this remix. Hard to believe sometimes how long I have been doing music for. It’s nice to know that some folks out there still enjoy my early work! Thanks to both producers for making this happen.
“Goodbye (Keurich Remix” by The Morphism and Anji Bee is also available on Apple Music.
For my big return to music podcasting, I put together an hour long spotlight on my recent obsession: K-Pop! I think long time listeners will be pleasantly surprised to find how compatible the genre really is with my show. I’ve discovered so many soulful and funky songs just perusing the most recent releases in the genre, and since I’ve gotten hooked on it, I thought I’d try to turn you onto some of these artists, as well. I really hope you’ll enjoy this change of pace for The Chillcast. Leave me a comment to let me know what you thought!
Here we go again! The Chillcast is back for 2019, keeping it chill, as always. Today’s mix of laid back beats and vibes hails from SoundCloud, Co-Sign, and FreegalMusic, as well as from me and my friends. There’s some remixes and edits, as well, as originals in this playlist, some with vocals and some without. Honestly, I don’t know what to say other than that this is a pretty classic set for me. Hope you dig it, lemme know in the comments if you want more!
