Another top notch show with a slightly bittersweet taste. Thanks to Cordovan and The Grooveblaster for mailing in your CDs! Thanks to Christine and Deanna for the Tina Dico and Natalie Walker tracks. Good stuff all the way around this week.

Ryan and Anji announce the 1 yr anniversary of the band podcast (a month late), share some So Cal heatwave survival tips, review several recent films, discuss the licensing of their music on TV and cable for fitness related shows, chat about LaLa.com, read fan email, and more!
I’ve got a heatwave chill out session for ya with a mix of mellow and upbeat tunes from the Podsafe Music Network, MySpace, and Promonet. It’s too hot to talk, so lemme let the music speak for me!
Happy Rhodes “Tragic” Many Worlds Are Born Tonight (1998) – PMN
The Shanghai Restoration Project “Pudong New District” Reinterpretations (2006) – Download “Pudong New District” from Promonet
So I wandered over to CNET’s music.download.com and was thrilled to find a show’s worth of really high quality free downloads. I started in the Trip Hop section, then slowly branched out into the Electronica genre. I haven’t even tapped into the Jazz or R&B sections yet, but even so, I think I’ve got a pretty sweet mix of chilled styles for ya on this “turning legal age” show.
Glen the Owl “I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight” Glen the Owl (2005)
Spyritual “Silence” Wall of Soul (2005) –
Josh One “Awaken” Narrow Faith (2004) –
Bitter::Sweet “The Mating Game” The Mating Game (2006) –
This is my first post-Podshow+ podcast, and it’s a goodie. I just drank a Mojito made with my own homegrown yerba buena, so I’m a tad tipsy, but hey, this IS The Chillcast, after all… Hopefully the show will go up on iTunes automagickally, if things go as I believe they are supposed to! I couldn’t get the shownotes tool to work on either of my Mac browsers (Safari or Firefox) but I’m hoping this Windows box will do the trick. They say 3rd time’s a charm, whatever that means!

I produced a last-minute special edition Chillcast at P-Dub’s request for Sirius Radio as part of Podshow’s Twofer Tuesday. I know I said I’d take the weekend off, but who could say no to the “Satellite Repair Man”? Since I did the work, I figured I’d share it with my faithful listeners. The mix is more upbeat than usual, to keep a nice 4th of July party vibe going. Maybe you can take a listen to this on Friday?
Yukijobo “Supernova Sky” Nordic Lounge Weekend: Stockholm (2006) –
Djavan “Tanta Saudade” Na Pista etc (2006)
Soular Sound “Things We Do” Jazzflora 2 (2006) –
Lovespirals “Deep in my Soul” Free & Easy (2005) –
The content was partially taken from several recent episodes, but I created all new commentary for the songs and a bit of new intro, as well. Oh, and there’s new feedback from Roger Smalls!
The weather is hot, but the music in today’s show is hotter! Just realized that Adam Curry did an “All Female Friday” show for his Daily Source Code today, but I already had my lineup selected yesterday, so it’s totally by coincidence. Lots of great tracks went up on the Podsafe Music Network this week, so who can resist? Speaking of Adam, I just realized that I never mentioned we met on my San Fran trip, albiet briefly. And you know, I thought he really did look sexier with the beard.
Tracklisting:
Laura Harley “Shine” Laura Harley (2006) – PMN | MySpace
Kharisma Montes “La Mujer” unreleased (2006) – PMN | MySpace
Egyptian Nursery “God’s Window” New Anthem (1998) – PMN
Great summertime feel this show with a nice new group of artists! Lots of listener feedback coming in recently, please keep it coming. Let me know if you like the way the show sounds, recording-wise, and how you feel about the little production bits I threw in for fun. As always, the podcast is a work in progress and I invite you to get involved in the process. Feel free to send me audio comments — or music — for consideration at anjibee@gmail.com.
yan and Anji talk about their new podcasting setup, checking out Lovespirals on the Pandora music site, catching up with our old label mates Mira, Anji being interviewed by the Essence Podcast about the effect of piracy on indie bands, the evils of AllofMp3, iTunes Store reviews, creating band avatars in Second Life and more!
