Chillcast Video #36: Adam Fielding

This is the last episode of 2009, and wouldn’t ya know it, I was having problems with FinalCut! In desperation, I turned to my old standby, iMovie. So if you notice a difference in the look of the show today, that’s why. Anyway,  I’m very happy to welcome one of my Chillcast favorites, Adam Fielding, to the Chillcast Video Edition!  This British producer and vocalist has been in heavy rotation since releasing Distant Activity, on Magnatune last year. Today’s video is for a song from that album, by the name of “Aurora.” It was created by Fielding’s friend and fellow producer, Tom Pritchard. Check out www.adamfielding.com for more information about Adam’s releases, free downloads, and more. Visit facebook.com/TomPritchardMusic for all the latest with Tom.

Chillcast Video #35: Symphony of Science

This week’s featured artist is actually the same artist as last time but under a new name! John Boswell of Colorpulse decided to give his science-based musical video project its own identity: Symphony of Science. He’s created two new songs and videos under the updated moniker, and today’s show features a great mashup of spoken word by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Richard Feynman, Bill Nye, and — of course – Carl Sagan called “We Are All Connected.” His first song, “A Glorious Dawn,” was recently released as a special 7″ vinyl, through Third Man Records. See John Boswell’s YouTube page for more videos!

Chillcast Video #34: Colorpulse

This week’s episode is a little bit different… My bandmate, Ryan, showed me this great video mash-up of Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking on YouTube. Turns out it’s a free download by an ambient electronica & rock musician called Colorpulse called “A Glorious Dawn (Cosmos Remix).”  Though it may not be totally legal, it IS totally cool, so I’m going out on a bit of a limb here to share it with you. Warning: this song is very catchy and it WILL get stuck in your head!

Bebel Gilberto @ Hollywood Bowl

Thought I’d share some of the video I took at this weekend at the Blame It On Rio Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl. It was fantastic to see Bebel Gilberto perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra out under the stars. The music is so achingly beautiful and romantic… Seu Jorge was amazing, as well, he has such a strong voice and stage presence. And their ending finale was simply magic! To say nothing of the Brazilian Carnaval dancers, drummers, Capoeria artists and out-of-control fireworks display… Man, what a night! I actually had a sense of what the bowl must’ve been like when it was first built, with the lovely vintage orchestra arrangements and that old school sense of glamor that Gilberto and Jorge brought to the stage. Sigh…

Its with great pleasure that I present the new video for “This Place” by Under, from their debut album, More Pleasant Grey.
