I really love the mix of moods and musical styles on this week’s episode! There’s a little bit of everything in this one hour set, but it all flows so sweetly from song to song. I just love the challenge of mixing genres on The Chillcast, you know? Its an embarrassment of riches over here at Chillcast studio, as I’ve totally hit a motherlode of great new music! I can’t quite pin down the overall sound of the mix; genres these days are so splintered and complex I don’t even know what I’m playing half the time! This has been a really unusual week. I started it out in the desert sweating from a heatwave and ended it by the coast shivering in the wind. Somehow the music in today’s Chillcast is a bit hot and cold, as well. The dance grooves are quite gentle, though the emotions are strong. I didn’t plan it purposely, but there seems to be quite a few breakup songs in the mix. But don’t worry, far from being depressing, the overall feel of this mix is sensual and lush. Look forward to both female and male vocal tunes as well as a few instrumentals. And don’t forget to grab the great free downloads provided by some of the bands below!
Today’s one hour mix will help keep you in a state of focus with its nice blend of instrumentals and vocals. The first half is more chillout oriented while the second half is an upbeat blend of dance and trance tunes. Once again, all the tunes are brand new for 2010. The whole show is composed from special permissions tracks sent in from the artists and labels, so there’s only one free download, but its a goodie, so be sure to grab it!
