A ton of new music just flooded in from bands, labels, and music bloggers. Honestly, it was hard to contain myself to an hour long set. Especially after that extended Halloween DJ Mix I did last week! But I managed to distill it all into a streamlined moody mix that’s just perfect for the warm windy nights we’re having in So Cal. I swear, sometimes the shows just put themselves together. Checked out some cool new promos this week which suggested connections to other recent promos, and before ya know it, I had one tizight little mix goin’ on! Electronica subgenres have evolved to the point that I am seriously confused as to how to classify the music I’m playing — but I think I can safely say there’s some pretty cutting edge stuff here. Look forward to lots of great vocals with personality galore and hooks you can not deny. This is an upbeat but slightly dark set, well suited to late night listening driving alone on an empty highway or just chillin’ with headphones in your bedroom.
It was a slow promo week, so I decided to scour IODA’s site for cool new music for this week’s show. A lot of great electronica and dance music has popped up over there, including several pre-releases which I just couldn’t resist playing for you immediately. I’ve also included some new tracks from releases we’ve already sampled in recent past episodes.
