Well its that time of the year, my loyal listeners, that time of the year we spread holiday cheer. Every year I think I won’t find enough new holiday music to make a set, but once again, I found a ton of new tracks for all of your holiday get-togethers. Excitingly, 11 songs are free downloads, check out the shownotes for links! This set flows from the serious and sublime to the downright silly, with a mix of traditional and contemporary sounds — and not all of it is strictly electronica. Nearly everyone included has been featured on The Chillcast before, and some of them are regulars, like Karmacoda, who open up the show with a brand new song released free to their fans this week. Merry Christmas everyone!
This week I’m proud to present the world premier of a brand new video by Nashville artist, Coury Palermo. Coury has been a guest on The Chillcast audio show many times, for his solo work, as well as his collaborations with Sleepthief and his side-project, The Fury — but this is his first time on Chillcast Video. “Hush” is the stunning first single from his brand new album, The Broken Way We Love, out now on his own Wine&Vinyl records imprint. Get the deluxe digital version of the album including bonus tracks, photos, a digital booklet and more directly from www.courypalermo.com – and be sure to read this blog post about the making of the “Hush” video with Eli Mc Fadden. Listen to “Hush (Sleepthief Remix)” on the recent Chillcast #294: Girls & Boys.
This week I’ve got a chilled mix of downtempo, electropop, and deep house with both male and female vocals – sometimes even in duet. This set straddles the line between ambient and pop, if such a line even exists… It feels a bit wintry, but rest assured, there are no holiday songs. I’m saving those or the show right before Christmas. Hey, I’m really excited about the big Lovespirals Holiday Sale on Bandcamp — you’ll hear all about it at the top of the hour.

So here we go with the annual Chillcast Holiday Mix! I had lots of great Christmas and winter-themed tracks to choose from this year, with a nice variety of moods and musical styles. From classic songs to original tunes, vocal pieces to instrumentals, I’ve got a pleasantly varied mix of holiday music you aren’t likely to hear elsewhere in the pod-o-sphere. And some of these tracks are free, to boot! This was produced DJ mix style, so you can listen without interruption at all your holiday gatherings. Happy Holidays! (NOTE: my first posting had a volume error, so this is a corrected reposting.)

Today’s set underwent a few changes before going into production. While the original mix was quite good, I felt like making it more mellow once I sat down to record. After a long day and a busy week, I was eager to chillax big time. And this set really hits the spot! So get set to chill out to an hour of new tunes in a variety of styles from artists both new and old to The Chillcast. Oh hey, sorry but the Deva Premal song is no longer available for free download from Promonet…

This has been a really unusual week. I started it out in the desert sweating from a heatwave and ended it by the coast shivering in the wind. Somehow the music in today’s Chillcast is a bit hot and cold, as well. The dance grooves are quite gentle, though the emotions are strong. I didn’t plan it purposely, but there seems to be quite a few breakup songs in the mix. But don’t worry, far from being depressing, the overall feel of this mix is sensual and lush. Look forward to both female and male vocal tunes as well as a few instrumentals. And don’t forget to grab the great free downloads provided by some of the bands below!
In the midst of all this Christmas madness, I somehow managed to assemble a pretty amazing one hour mix of wintry tunes that may even surpass last week’s holiday episode… This set includes several brand new tracks that are destined to become favorites. There’s also some more downbeat tracks for those of us that feel a bit melancholy during this season. I’d have to say that there’s something for everyone in this mix and you have your pick of 10 free mp3s for your own holiday playlist. Merry Christmas!
Today’s show is a bit of a study in contrasts; the music is half mellow and half upbeat — mixing downtempo, electropop, and drum ‘n’ bass — and my personal news is partly sad and partly ecstatic. Be sure to listen through to the end of the show to hear my big dorky fangirl brush with #18 of the Lakers! I’m still debating whether or not I want to put the video on YouTube; poor Sasha is already getting teased enough online without an “OMG OMG OMG” video adding to the craziness. But don’t worry, that story is just a tiny part of this hour long episode, which is packed with great tunes — including a couple of sweet free downloads you won’t want to miss!
I’m back with another eclectic electric chillout mix and plenty o’ free downloads! This week highlights new material from downtempo superstars, Zero 7, who have a brand new album coming out MONDAY September 28th, when they will also be kicking off a UK tour. I saw them a few years back and really enjoyed it. Anyway, there’s a few new bands to the show this week plus more from some of your favorites, so kick back, relax, and enjoy…
Whew — it is HOT up in here! The only nice thing I can say about the heatwave we’re having in So Ca is that it has forced me to be very creative in how I beat the heat. If I hadn’t been so dazzled by the heat this week, I may have remembered that I usually do a 90 min DJ mix for Labor Day, alas… However this 60 min show should definitely hit the spot with its sultry mix of melancholy downtempo, exotic world beat, and soulful house tunes. Lots of great vocals this week, some real top notch stuff. Plus 4 free downloads – 5 counting the one included in my Chillcast Artist of the Week feature on Sleepthief!
