Its that time again… time to check out Anji Bee’s favorite podsafe songs released during the year of 2009! And yes, I am speaking in 3rd person. LOL! Every track in this over 90 minute set was played on The Chillcast last year at some point. Keep in mind, now, these are ONLY podsafe tunes — no special permissions tracks. And luckily for you, many of them are free downloads!

Whew — it is HOT up in here! The only nice thing I can say about the heatwave we’re having in So Ca is that it has forced me to be very creative in how I beat the heat. If I hadn’t been so dazzled by the heat this week, I may have remembered that I usually do a 90 min DJ mix for Labor Day, alas… However this 60 min show should definitely hit the spot with its sultry mix of melancholy downtempo, exotic world beat, and soulful house tunes. Lots of great vocals this week, some real top notch stuff. Plus 4 free downloads – 5 counting the one included in my Chillcast Artist of the Week feature on Sleepthief!
And speaking of “too hot” — check out this amazing Podcamp Montreal banner featuring the sexiest Trust Agent and New York Times Bestselling author out there, Julien Smith:
A flood of fantastic new music came in over the 4th of July weekend, so this show basically put itself together. With a few tracks from the new Music Alley (formerly Podsafe Music Network) and Promonet thrown in and one more song from Chillcast Artist of the Week, Under, we have got one heck of a show today! Song premiers, remixes, and sneak peaks — even a Chillcast Exclusive — compose this lush, vocal filled show. Prepare to hit the “repeat” button, baby.
This was one of the tougher episodes to make, quite frankly. One never knows what to say in the wake of unexpected deaths, and here I was trying to figure out the best way to talk about Andy Hughes when the news of Michael Jackson came in. And all of this on top of the ongoing struggle in Iran, not to mention the death of Charlie’s favorite Angel. Plus rumors have been swirling about Sasha Vujacic being traded and various other celebrities dying — all very distracting and non-chill… That being said, however, I think I managed a pretty tight one hour mix for you that’s about half contemplative downtempo and half upbeat dance music. I hope it brings you some peace of your own.
This week’s show is dedicated to the majesty of the female voice. I’ve got a killer lineup including 3 songs sent to me on CD, which is always awesome! I prefer 320 aacs, so getting to rip music directly from the album makes me stoked. I’m also stoked to have a new sponsor, Folgers! Woo hoo — coffee and music are two of the best things in life. And flavored coffee and female vocal music makes life that much sweeter…

I’m a little early this time around ’cause tomorrow is a holiday. Maybe some folks will dig chillin’ on a Saturday night for once? Break out a bottle of wine! I’m gonna have some Mexican beer, myself…
