Lovespirals “Will It Ever Be The Same (VIP Mix)” Single & Music Video Out Now

Lovespirals aka Love Spirals Downwards unveil a lush reimagining with “Will It Ever Be The Same (VIP Mix).” A favorite from their 2018 album Life Goes On, the duo elevates the original’s brooding beauty with a richer, moodier production taking advantage of their current studio arsenal. New to this version is a hypnotic vocal sample—“tell me, tell me…”—looped throughout, adding a modern rhythmic hook, while subtle 808 percussion lifts the stately dream pop track into a more contemporary space. Anji Bee’s haunting vocals express a yearning for connection, echoing into the cosmos with aching clarity, while Ryan Lum’s ethereal guitar work extract maximum emotion. A modern classic reborn. Out now on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms including SpotifyApple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.

Anji Bee on Charting the Higher Octave [video interview]

Check out a new interview with Anji Bee by DJ Noctura of Charting the Higher Octave. They go deep into her musical history, including her stint as a fanzine creator in the 80s and 90s, her time as a college radio DJ, how she met Ryan, plus music collaborations new and old (Restless Mosaic and Bitstream Dream), podcasting, and –of course– what’s new with Lovespirals.

“The Call (VIP Mix)” Digital Single & Video

Anji’s band Lovespirals (aka Love Spirals Downwards) just dropped a brand new mix of their 2022 single, “The Call,” on BandcampSpotifyAppleAmazonYouTube, and other digital platforms.

The new VIP Mix amplifies the song’s shoegaze and dream pop essence with a bigger, more immersive guitar sound and enhanced ethereal vocal harmonies. The hook-laden guitar lead and spacey synths evoke The Cure, while the track’s melancholic yet driving energy harks back to Ryan’s early 90s work, as well as the duo’s 2018 album, ‘Life Goes On.’ Anji’s emotive vocals shift effortlessly between bold confidence and dreamy sincerity, adding depth to the song’s hypnotic pull. A nostalgic yet refreshed take, this version of “The Call” is a hauntingly beautiful throwback with a modern twist.

A mesmerizing visualizer video — featuring the original photograph by Susan Jennings used for the cover art — was posted to YouTube.

Lovespirals “Used To Be” Single Out Now

Chillcast Theme Songs on Bandcamp

From time to time I get requests from fans asking me about the song played during the intro or outro of my podcast and vidcast known as The Chillcast with Anji Bee. I must admit I’m always tickled that someone has found these brief musical interludes catchy enough that they want to have a copy of the song in their libraries, so today I searched my archive for the original wav files to share on my Bandcamp page.

Over the course of the series produced between 2005 and 2020, I actually used a few different versions of the theme song. The original song was created by my husband and I much in the style of the our Lovespirals album, Free & Easy, released the year prior. Our band podcast, Chillin’ with Lovespirals, used the album’s title track as our show’s theme song and I was looking for something similar for my music show. Ryan was happy to oblige, whipping up a funky baseline and drums topped with moody electric piano and bluesy guitar leads, to which I added my breathy vocals. “Ooh ooh ooh, uh huh — Chillcast!” became the epic calling card of my show, playing into the sensual and sassy persona I’d created for the network, PodShow, where I was known as “The Sexiest Voice in Podcasting,” according to founder and ex-MTV VJ, Adam Curry. This theme song first debuted on Chillcast Episode 10 posted April 24, 2006.

Noumenon (Lyrics)

Lovespirals/Love Spirals Downwards “Noumenon” (2024)

Love is just a noumenon
Noumeon

Every day I wake up tired
Only do what is required
My emotions have been mired
So completely uninspired

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)

And I know its all my fault
Hits my heart like an assault
Feelings locked inside a vault
Waiting for the pain to halt

Find a way to carry on
Trying my best to be strong
There’s nowhere that I belong
Love is just a noumenon

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon

Noumenon
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon

And I know its all my fault
Hits my heart like an assault
Feelings locked inside a vault
Waiting for the pain to halt

Find a way to carry on
Trying my best to be strong
There’s nowhere that I belong
Love is just a noumenon

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)

Love is just a noumenon
Noumenon
