While the lyrics are decidedly melancholy, the original 2010 recording adds an upbeat twist with its catchy disco house style, replete with wah wah guitar and disco strings. The 2012 version is classic Lovespirals dream pop with it’s soaring ebo guitar and glacial tempo. Anji’s vocal are, by turns, sensual and sublime, with a certain cheekiness to the house version and a mournfulness on the shoegazer version. There’s more than one side to this complex duo, and this single is the perfect illustration of their musical and emotional duality. Chillcast Video #123: Lovespirals [Final Episode]
Yes, it’s sad but true. Chillcast Video has come to an end. Begun in January 2008, the show has enjoyed 16 and a half million views. Its been a good run, but its time to move on. Though both Chillcast Video and The Chillcast with Anji Bee podcast have been dropped from the BiteSizeTV lineup, tentative plans are already in place to relaunch the show with a new network. Note: This song was originally recorded and released in 2010 as an Anji Bee single, in a disco house style. Oddly enough, the holiday track sprung from a discarded song called, “One More.” Scrapping that song’s vocals, she found some holiday themed lyrics she’d penned several years before and came up with a whole new vocal melody for the abandoned house track. In 2012, Anji’s band, Lovespirals, were invited to contribute something to a new holiday compilation on Projekt Records. Rather than cover a tired Christmas classic, the duo reinterpreted “Happy Holidays” in a melancholic dream pop style.
Lovespirals On New Projekt Holiday Compilation
Lovespirals recorded a brand new rendition of Anji Bee’s original track “Happy Holidays” for a new Projekt Records holiday music compilation. This new version is classic Lovespirals dream pop with its soaring ebo guitar and glacial tempo. Anji’s vocal are by turns sensual and sublime, with a mournfulness befitting a shoegazer version.

Anji Bee Single “Happy Holidays” Out Now
“Happy Holidays” is the first all-original holiday song released by Lovespirals vocalist/lyricist, Anji Bee, who’s perhaps best-known as the hostess/producer of weekly electronica music show, The Chillcast.
Working with Lovespirals partner, Ryan Lum, Bee has crafted a deceptively bittersweet pop nugget filled with heartugging violins, funky bass and wah guitar, and a relaxed house beat — with just a hint of cool wintry nights wafting through. Bee’s warm, enveloping vocals pleasantly recall Tracey Thorn (of Everything But The Girl) and Karen Carpenter with her laid back yet passionate delivery and personal holiday message.
Sometimes in the midst of the holiday hub bub of parties and pretty blinking lights one finds themselves reminiscing of the past and wanting to reconnect to a long lost loved one… just to say “Happy Holidays!”
