This week I bring you more love songs to chillout to. We’re back to the regular one-hour format with commentary on all the tracks. As I was casting around for show subtitles this week, I tried to mentally sum up the musical theme; the music is partly mechanistic but also quite soulful in spots, and then it hit me: the Filterwolf song title was perfection! In addition to describing the music mix, it has the added bonus of being an allusion to Sasha Vujacic, who is slated to return to play with the Lakers for their first game of the Western Conference Finals this weekend. GO MACHINE! GO LAKERS! OK, Vujachick fangirlism aside, this is an interesting episode filled with a kind of cosmic, other-worldly beauty. Get ready to chillout to one hour of Eastern World influenced and/or created electronica music. This set is chock full of mysterious vocals, soothing flutes, intricate percussion, tinkling cymbals plus plenty of groovy beats and sultry rhythms. I say “Eastern World” because its a mix of Far and Middle East music influences in this set. Of course there are copious Western influences, as well. Well its the dreaded Tax Day here in the good ole USA as I record the show and type up the shownotes for ya. Like many of my fellow Americans, I got rocked by Uncle Sam. My only consolation now is great new music and awesome free downloads, and luckily I’ve got both of those in spades!
