Today’s musical guest is Bonobo feat. Grey Reverend, with the official video for “First Fires”, directed by Young Replicant. It was featured as a Vimeo Staff Pick, and is a free download. “First Fires” is the second single from Bonobo’s brilliant new 5th album, The North Borders, out now on Ninja Tune. Bonobo is currently on tour, so be sure to check out their tour dates!
Returning to Chillcast Video is French electro-acoustic artist, Bonobo, with a mysterious video for his song, “Eyesdown.” This is one of 3 collaborations with vocalist, Andreya Triana, from the Black Sands album released last year by Ninja Tune. There is also an Eyesdown EP which includes remixes by Floating Points, Warrior 1, and Appleblim & Komonazmuk, as well as the original mix and an instrumental version. This video was directed by Steve Glashier, who also directed the gorgeous video for Bonobo’s “The Keeper” which I played on Chillcast Video #43 last August.

A ton of new music just flooded in from bands, labels, and music bloggers. Honestly, it was hard to contain myself to an hour long set. Especially after that extended Halloween DJ Mix I did last week! But I managed to distill it all into a streamlined moody mix that’s just perfect for the warm windy nights we’re having in So Cal. I imagine it will work equally well for wet cold nights elsewhere; you’ll have to let me know how it goes. Lots of free downloads this week, be sure to grab ’em!
“Moody and sexy” isn’t too bad a way to sum up the overall musical theme of this week’s one hour set. This mix is infused with smooth, sultry rhythms and sensual vocals, but still retains some grit and edge. From downtempo and deep house to dub step and electro pop, there’s plenty of musical variety to savor. And you’re definitely gonna love the amazing free downloads included below!
This month’s Chillcast Video Edition features Ninja Tune artist, Andreya Triana, who just released her debut solo album Lost Where I Belong. This lovely video for the title track was directed by Daniel Chester and Dave Prosser and was produced by Sweetworld with live-action directed by Robert Sanderson. “Lost Where I Belong” was co-written with Fink and produced by Bonobo, who Andreya is currently on tour with.
Somehow I managed to say “fantastic” no less than 3 times in the intro of today’s show and I decided that wasn’t half-bad as the subtitle. I’m going with an ever-so-slightly more ambient mix of tunes, with dashes of dream pop, and plenty of downtempo and chillout vibes. So get ready to drift off into pleasant little daydreams as you listen, my friends. There’s some cool free downloads included in the mix, so be sure to go grab ’em for your collection!

This week’s Chillcast includes some truly top notch artists who are offering free legal downloads of their latest songs and remixes – YAY! I just love sharing free legal chillout mp3s with all my loyal listeners. But hey, please be sure to check out the rest of their albums, as well. Today’s episode begins with a friendly nod to last’s week’s popular world beat chillout mix, then slowly ramps up into some serious dance grooves by show’s end. I really love the mix of moods and musical styles on this week’s episode! There’s a little bit of everything in this one hour set, but it all flows so sweetly from song to song. I just love the challenge of mixing genres on The Chillcast, you know? Come to think of it, its great vocals – both female and male – that hold a lot of it together, and there are some real doozies in here. To top it all off, over half of the songs are FREE downloads – w00t! Don’t forget to come join The Chillcast on Facebook Group.
