This week, let’s all just chillout with this one hour set of pure relaxing chillout music. I think I’ve got the perfect balance of vocal tracks and instrumentals, with hints of worldbeat, funk, and house. This mellow mix flows dreamily along, gently gaining momentum towards the last 3rd of the show. Lots of brand new releases are featured and several of them are even legal free downloads. Enjoy the chill, my friends!
Refreshed and invigorated by a wine tasting getaway last week, I’m back with another amazing set of new tunes that flows from deep house and chillout to funkier, more upbeat electronica offerings from some of the finest talents out there. Part of the celebration last week was for the birthday of Ryan Lum, whose actual birthday is this Saturday. You can send your well wishes to him over at twitter.com/RyanLum or facebook.com/Lovespirals if you are so inclined. Anyway, Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

As I was casting around for show subtitles this week, I tried to mentally sum up the musical theme; the music is partly mechanistic but also quite soulful in spots, and then it hit me: the Filterwolf song title was perfection! In addition to describing the music mix, it has the added bonus of being an allusion to Sasha Vujacic, who is slated to return to play with the Lakers for their first game of the Western Conference Finals this weekend. GO MACHINE! GO LAKERS! OK, Vujachick fangirlism aside, this is an interesting episode filled with a kind of cosmic, other-worldly beauty. There’s 4 very cool, totally legal free downloads this week, so be sure to grab ’em!
With the ominous sound of raging winds outside my studio window, I put together a set of sweet, sweet vocal tunes to soothe the soul and bring peace to my agitated mind. And lucky you, you get to experience this bliss, as well! In classic Chillcast form, we start out with laidback chillout in the first half and slowly work our way up to smooth minimal tech house and close it out with my two favorite Göteborg vocalists. Lots of great free downloads this week, so grab ’em while they’re hot!
Its an embarrassment of riches over here at Chillcast studio, as I’ve totally hit a motherlode of great new music! I absolutely can not get enough of the new Ernesto/Motorcitysoul EP, but then again, I can never get enough Ernesto in general. LOL! I introduce a bunch of new bands to the show this week, so you’re sure to discover something you love. I can’t quite pin down the overall sound of the mix; genres these days are so splintered and complex I don’t even know what I’m playing half the time! But you’ll recognize the feel – a little deep, a little downtempo, a little dub – some with vox, and some instrumental. Its a sophisticated set designed to engage the brain as much as the body. Enjoy!

This has been a really unusual week. I started it out in the desert sweating from a heatwave and ended it by the coast shivering in the wind. Somehow the music in today’s Chillcast is a bit hot and cold, as well. The dance grooves are quite gentle, though the emotions are strong. I didn’t plan it purposely, but there seems to be quite a few breakup songs in the mix. But don’t worry, far from being depressing, the overall feel of this mix is sensual and lush. Look forward to both female and male vocal tunes as well as a few instrumentals. And don’t forget to grab the great free downloads provided by some of the bands below!
Well, it’s another Friday, another mix of amazing new songs hand selected for you maximum chillout pleasure… LOL! Seriously though, I can hardly believe how many cool tracks have been flooding in lately. Its like a deluge. A relaxing, sensual, highly danceable deluge. OK I think its time to just let the music speak for itself because I am at a total loss for words to describe today’s mix, other than “killer.” Hope y’all had a romantic Valentine’s Day weekend… maybe this mix can help keep the good vibes flowing!
We’re back to the regular 1 hour format this week. Glad to have heard from so many of you that you enjoyed last week’s extended episode last week! This show is packed full of new musical discoveries from all over the world, including Norway, United States, Germany, Canada, Hungary, England — and even France and Nigeria if you count Tea. Only 3 free downloads this week, but with music this good, you will want to go buy it! And I hope you do, because all of these artists deserve our support.
Can you believe its already October? Sheesh! Time is really flying. Let’s all take an hour out of our week to chillout with this classic mix of International electronica in genres including downtempo, world beat, drum ‘n’ bass, and electro-pop, packed with intriguing vocals and oodles of mood. And don’t forget — this episode contains 7 free downloads. Bonus!
Whew — it is HOT up in here! The only nice thing I can say about the heatwave we’re having in So Ca is that it has forced me to be very creative in how I beat the heat. If I hadn’t been so dazzled by the heat this week, I may have remembered that I usually do a 90 min DJ mix for Labor Day, alas… However this 60 min show should definitely hit the spot with its sultry mix of melancholy downtempo, exotic world beat, and soulful house tunes. Lots of great vocals this week, some real top notch stuff. Plus 4 free downloads – 5 counting the one included in my Chillcast Artist of the Week feature on Sleepthief!
