Lovespirals “Gray” Single & Video Out Now

Opening the year on a hushed, introspective note, “Gray” drifts through slow-motion, minor-key terrain steeped in Lovespirals’ signature atmosphere. Ryan’s ethereal electric and acoustic guitars glide over evocative samples and 808-driven beats, with string-machine swells and spacious production filling out the haze. Anji, meanwhile, anchors the track with a subdued delivery, as a minimal call-and-echo chorus introduces angelic backing vocals that bloom into dreamlike harmony in the bridge.

Sonically and thematically, “Gray” connects to “Noumenon” and “Nothing Even Matters Anymore,” continuing the band’s exploration of emotional dislocation and restraint, while also drawing from the downtempo pull of “Glittering.” Together, these songs trace the duo’s embrace of chillout and dream pop aesthetics—modern yet timeless—affirming their ability to evolve while remaining unmistakably themselves.

The “Gray” music video –created by Anji utilizing archival personal footage– debuted on January 21st, following the single’s digital release on January 16th. It serves as a haunting visual companion to the track’s exploration of memory and emotional stasis. Watch it on YouTube:

Lovespirals “Drift Begins” Single & Video

Lovespirals’ final single of 2025, “Drift Begins,” drifts into a liminal, windswept mood built on soft piano, ethereal pads, and shimmering guitar. Drawing from Ryan Lum’s early ’90s Projekt-era palette—including the same vintage drum machine he used on his first albums—the track blends nostalgic textures with modern production. Its stately 6/86/8 pulse, misty imagery, Ryan’s emotive Gilmour-leaning solo, and Anji’s airy, Floyd-evoking vocal phrasing nod to mid-period Pink Floyd, while her luminous two-part harmonies and intertwined high/low registers add a dream-pop ache reminiscent of Slowdive and Mojave 3.

“Drift Begins” is available now on SpotifyApple MusicAmazon MusicYouTube Music and other streaming platforms under the original band name, Love Spirals Downwards, as well as on Bandcamp under both LSD and Lovespirals.

Lovespirals Okay Single & Video Out Now

Following the simmering defiance of “Boss Mode,” Lovespirals return with “Okay”— a slow-burning meditation on emotional exhaustion and disconnection, enveloped in a soundscape that seamlessly blends sensual modern R&B grooves with lush dream pop melancholy. Ryan Lum’s signature production style, characterized by ethereal guitar flourishes, emotive ebow leads, and haunting touches of acoustic guitar woven through sparkling synths and contemporary beats, sets the stage for Anji Lum’s soulful, natural-toned lead and airy high harmonies that gracefully drift above the mix. “Okay”further expands the lyrical and sonic universe that Anji and Ryan have been constructing—a realm of whispered truths, shadowed beauty, and the poignant space between our emotions and our words.

“Okay” is available now on Spotify, Apple MusicAmazon Music, YouTube Music and other streaming platforms under the original band name, Love Spirals Downwards, as well as on Bandcamp under both LSD and Lovespirals.

Lovespirals “Boss Mode” Single & Music Video

A silky-smooth blend of soulful downtempo & introspective pop, “Boss Mode” pairs Anji’s soul-baring lyricism & sultry vocal delivery with Ryan’s signature dream pop guitar textures & sleek electronica production. With moody keyboards, crisp beats & soulful guitar flourishes, the song finds strength in vulnerability, drawing emotional resonance from the language of gaming culture—“like boss mode, low health, no refill”—as a metaphor for emotional burnout.

Marking a shift from the darker emotional tones of recent singles like  “Not Myself” and “Noumenon,” “Boss Mode” calls back to the bittersweet soulfulness of “Why Not Today” and the melodic warmth of “Life Goes On,” while carving out its own space with a confident groove and glimmers of hope. The result is a track that straddles introspective pop and downtempo electronica, inviting listeners to power through life’s harder moments with grace and groove.

“Boss Mode” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other streaming platforms under the band’s original name, Love Spirals Downwards, as well as on Bandcamp under both LSD and Lovespirals.

“The Call (VIP Mix)” Digital Single & Video

Anji’s band Lovespirals (aka Love Spirals Downwards) just dropped a brand new mix of their 2022 single, “The Call,” on BandcampSpotifyAppleAmazonYouTube, and other digital platforms.

The new VIP Mix amplifies the song’s shoegaze and dream pop essence with a bigger, more immersive guitar sound and enhanced ethereal vocal harmonies. The hook-laden guitar lead and spacey synths evoke The Cure, while the track’s melancholic yet driving energy harks back to Ryan’s early 90s work, as well as the duo’s 2018 album, ‘Life Goes On.’ Anji’s emotive vocals shift effortlessly between bold confidence and dreamy sincerity, adding depth to the song’s hypnotic pull. A nostalgic yet refreshed take, this version of “The Call” is a hauntingly beautiful throwback with a modern twist.

Noumenon (Lyrics)

Lovespirals/Love Spirals Downwards “Noumenon” (2024)

Love is just a noumenon
Noumeon

Every day I wake up tired
Only do what is required
My emotions have been mired
So completely uninspired

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)

And I know its all my fault
Hits my heart like an assault
Feelings locked inside a vault
Waiting for the pain to halt

Find a way to carry on
Trying my best to be strong
There’s nowhere that I belong
Love is just a noumenon

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon

Noumenon
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon

And I know its all my fault
Hits my heart like an assault
Feelings locked inside a vault
Waiting for the pain to halt

Find a way to carry on
Trying my best to be strong
There’s nowhere that I belong
Love is just a noumenon

Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)
Noumenon
Love is just a noumenon
(Love is just a noumenon)

Love is just a noumenon
Noumenon

Lovespirals “Misunderstood” Out Now

It’s the 25th anniversary of Love Spirals Downwards’ 1998 album, ‘Flux,’ and to celebrate, Ryan and I released the ‘Flux Deluxe Edition’ on all digital platforms. In addition to the 9 original songs, we’ve included 13 additional tracks (14, if you count the Bandcamp only bonus song). In addition to remixes, a live recording, and a number of previously unreleased outtakes, this epic 147 minute collection includes a brand new Lovespirals rendition of “I’ll Always Love You,” that we call “Misunderstood.” While searching the archives Ryan came across some of the original samples used in the song which tempted him to recreate his fave track from the ground up for 2023. We had a blast revisiting this classic song together!

You can find “Misunderstood” on the Love Spirals Downwards’ ‘Flux Deluxe Edition’ album on all digital music platforms, or grab just the single from our Lovespirals Bandcamp account!
